Download and print the Level 1 Writing Workbook — practice writing each syllable by hand.

📥 Download Writing Workbook (PDF)
⚠️ Important Note

This workbook trains sound recognition, not vocabulary. Do not try to memorize meanings during lessons. Your only job is to read sounds correctly and smoothly. Meaning comes in Level 3.

🔊 Audio Access — Play Button

Every lesson has a ▶ play button at the top of the page.

🖱️ Click the ▶ play button → Audio plays immediately → Listen first, then read aloud.
Works on all devices. Always listen before you start reading.
🎯 Recommended Study Order (Every Lesson)
  1. Press ▶ play: Listen to the full lesson audio once before reading anything.
  2. Study the Sound Map: Look at the new consonant + vowel combinations. Don't memorize — just recognize.
  3. Read aloud (3 rounds): Read the practice section aloud three times. Slow is OK. No guessing.
  4. Writing Practice: Write each syllable once to verify your sound–letter matching. This is a check, not handwriting practice.
  5. Win Box: Only move to the next lesson when you can complete the Win Box smoothly.
  6. Checkpoint pages: Mark each section OK or NG. Redo only the NG sections before continuing.
💡 Study Tips
  • Always read Korean aloud — silent reading will slow your progress significantly.
  • If you pause more than 5 times on a page, slow down and re-listen before trying again.
  • Do not look up word meanings during Phases 1–4. Meaning comes after fluency.
  • 15–25 minutes per lesson is ideal. One lesson per day keeps momentum without burnout.
  • If a lesson feels too easy, you're doing it right — speed comes after accuracy.

✏️ Why does ㄱ look different in 가 and 고?
ㅏ → 가
vertical vowel ㅏ
→ consonant sits left
ㅗ → 고
horizontal vowel ㅗ
→ consonant sits top
The rule: Korean syllable blocks are always square.
— Vowels like ㅏ ㅓ ㅣ (vertical strokes) → consonant squeezes to the left half
— Vowels like ㅗ ㅜ ㅡ (horizontal strokes) → consonant fills the top half
